Use established search controls for their established jobs

A robots rule controls compliant crawling; it does not remove a known URL from an index. A noindex directive controls indexing when the crawler can read it. A canonical identifies a preferred version but should align with redirects, internal links and sitemaps. A sitemap aids discovery; it does not confer quality.

Google says pages supporting AI Overviews or AI Mode must be indexed and eligible for snippets and require no additional technical optimization beyond Search foundations.

Make the primary meaning robust

Serve titles, headings, body text and important links in a form users and intended crawlers can access. Client-side interaction can enhance the page, but a failure should not erase the information that makes the page discoverable. Test the rendered HTML and user experience, not only the source template.

Performance matters to people and operations. Improve it through normal engineering evidence rather than claiming one speed metric guarantees AI visibility.
